Maurice Sendak received the Caldecott Medal for WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE. Best known for his children's classics, including IN THE NIGHT KITCHEN, CHICKEN SOUP WITH RICE, ALLIGATORS ALL AROUND, and the LITTLE BEAR book, he has received the Hans Christian Andersen Medal, the Laura Ingalls Wilder Award, the National Medal of Arts, and the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award.
