Young witch Tiga Whicabim is just starting to settle into glitzy Ritzy City when Fran the Fabulous Fairy discovers that Tiga's best friend Peggy has gone missing --- leaving behind only a note explaining that she's “AWAY WITH THE FAIRIES” and evil Felicity Bat is now in charge. Soon after, other witches across town start to disappear. Tiga and her friends set out to investigate and stumble upon an old, unsolved mystery that might just be the reason behind the disappearances. Can the girls use their witchy skills to save their friend and the city in time?
When Fran the Fabulous Fairy turns up in Tiga Whicabim's shed to tell her she's a witch, Tiga doesn't believe her. Or at least not until Fran points out that TIGA WHICABIM is actually an anagram of I AM A BIG WITCH...and takes Tiga through the drainpipes to compete in a challenge to crown the next Top Witch of Ritzy City. No one expects a witch from "above the pipes" to be a serious contender, but soon Tiga and her new best friend, Peggy Pigwiggle, are at the head of the pack! Does one of them have what it takes to win?
Despite the fact that they share a name, Big Bob and Little Bob are different. Big Bob likes trucks and throwing balls and being loud. Little Bob likes dolls and jingling bracelets and being quiet. No matter what they do, they do not do it the same. Could they possibly be friends despite these differences? With humor and tenderness, James Howe and Laura Ellen Anderson beautifully depict the struggles and rewards that come when friendships are forged between different kinds of people.
