Election 2000
Every four years the people of our country vote to elect a new president. Who will become President of the United States in 2000? Will it be Al Gore or George W. Bush? Adults often have lots to say about who should win, who will win, and why. You've probably heard some of those conversations or maybe have seen the candidates speaking on television (or perhaps even in your hometown).
But even though you cannot cast an official vote until you're 18, it's not too soon to find out more about some of our past presidents, and discover all the fine points about how campaigns are run, how votes are cast and how the winners are officially determined. Believe it or not, there are plenty of interesting (and sometimes funny) tidbits tucked in among all the historic facts.
So check out these books on the presidents, the White House and the election process. When the winner is chosen on Novemberr 7, you'll be glad to be in the know.
