A
NOTE FROM BOOKER
Hi!
We have a special holiday gift for you! Kidsreads.com has a whole
new look. Well, not completely new, as my bespectacled little mug
is still peeking on the front page. But besides that everything
is NEW! Go to www.Kidsreads.com to check it out. Then let us know
what you think by sending us a note at talkback@kidsreads.com.
Many
of you have written to me asking when the Reading Club will reopen.
We hope to have it back up and running by this coming Spring. We
know that you miss it, and we appreciate your patience. Please bear
with us while we work out a new and improved system for all of you.
We are planning to bring back Message Board early next year. Meanwhile,
keep reading!
Whether
you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Ramadan or another winter
holiday, we here at Kidsreads.com hope you have a wonderful time
with your family, friends and loved ones.

SMOKE
SCREEN
Mitzi is in the sixth grade. Lots of things are going on in her
life this year, and they're all about to come together into a witch's
brew of trouble. Actually, that's what happens. All Mitzi's problems
come together into one terrific lie. Mitzi isn't quite sure herself
where the lie came from, but she learns that it's more than a stretcher.
Will she be able to control it, or will it mushroom into something
that will be too humiliating for words?
THE
SECRET VOICE OF GINA ZHANG
In this AmericanGirl book,
Jinna Zhang has moved with her parents from China to America. They
live with Jinna's aunt and uncle, who own a Chinese restaurant.
Jinna's parents work hard in the restaurant, and Jinna goes to school.
Her parents expect her to do well, learn English, and teach it to
them. They want her to bring honor to her Chinese heritage. But
things go terribly wrong the very first day of class. People at
school don't even pronounce her name right.
But
friendship, imagination, and courage can help Jinna put her life
together, like putting the pieces of a confusing puzzle together
to make a meaningful picture. Read
this book to find out how!
WILD
AT HEART: #2 Homeless
This is the second book in the WILD AT HEART series, which features
a group of children volunteering at a veterinary clinic. The first
book, FIGHT FOR LIFE, was about rescuing puppies from a puppy mill.
It was great! In HOMELESS, we get to know the character of Sunita
better as she leads the crusade to save a group of homeless cats
from being put to sleep.
THE
CHRISTMAS RAT
Eric is home for Christmas vacation. He lives in a fifth-floor apartment
in the city. Weather so cold that it freezes your lungs to go outside
has gripped the city. His parents both work all day. His best friend
is in Florida. His other best friend has the flu. He has played
all the computer games he can stand. It's six days before Christmas,
and he's bored out of his mind. Not good, because being bored out
of your mind can get you into big trouble, as Eric finds out. Find
out what kind of trouble Eric gets into by reading this book.

MAILBAG
Poems from fellow
Bookworms:
If I Did
If I found aliens
on Mars
I would ride them through the stars
Unless they're mean of course
Then I'll let them ride a horse
If I met a talking moose
I would feed it apple juice
Or maybe orange, if it likes
Or we both can ride bikes
If I met a money-giving ghost
I would make it some toast
Then they'll give me money
And I'll buy food to fill my tummy
If I did this
If I saw
If I wondered
If I was Ra
I MIGHT'VE BEEN THE COOLEST ONE ON THE PLANET!
But God made me come close
So I'm happy as me!

The Best Thanksgiving
You know what today is, don't you?
You’ll be celebrating it, won’t you?
I am; I’ll be treated like a king.
Why? Because today’s Thanksgiving.
I expected it to be something boring,
Because every year grandpa ends up snoring.
My cousins get anxiety from eating turkey.
My mom's sister gets all lively and perky.
It sure didn't happen this time, oh no.
Because this time we invited Marco Polo.
JUST KIDDING!
But we played the game in a new version.
We also learned the man met a Persian.
After the games and history we made jokes.
We all shared it with our folks.
We talked about our daily life.
My uncle talked about his wife.
Now it was already eating time!
But most of all turkey; since its prime.
Wow, what a Thanksgiving we've had.
And to think I thought it would have been bad!
This was the best Thanksgiving ever.
When will I forget this? Never.
I'll remember this dinner forever!

I lived 100 years ago
Though I remember it just like yesterday.
The fields full of flowers,
Blooming left and right.
The cows grazing.
People picking cotton.
Days in the sun's heat,
But everything is worth it.
Life was beautiful

Mail from fellow Bookworms:
I read a book called HOLES. It was by Louis Sachar. I think that
book can be so great! I am trying to recommend that book instead
of Harry Potter all the time. I do like Harry Potter but I am kind
of sick of it. Look out for books by Louis Sachar. from a bookwormer

I really want The Rock's biography and WWF's cookbook which has
all sorts of recipes from the superstars themselves.
