A NOTE FROM BOOKER

Hello!

Last weekend a few of the worm kids and I went to the movies to see Spy Kids. What a GREAT movie! Have you seen it yet? When the kids came home they all wanted to play spy games. We were lucky to find a book to help them --- SPY KIDS: How to be a Spy Activity Book. The book has puzzles, mazes, word searches, spy kits and a whole section on secret codes. Last night the worm kids organized a Super Spy Hunt following the directions in the book. We had great fun searching for their clues. Try this with your family and friends.

MATILDA BONE
Matilda is a 14-year-old who knows a little too much about religion, and much too little about life. She knows how to read and write, figure, pray and fast, obey in all things, and speak Latin (her favorite saying translates as "spit and slime"). What Matilda doesn't know is how to cook, tend a fire, shop for food, take care of an ill person, or think for herself. To read more of this review, click here.

STOWAWAY
STOWAWAY is the fictionalized story of the amazing adventures of a real-life boy named Nicholas Young. Only a few facts are known about the real Nicholas Young: 1) he really did stow away on Captain Cook's voyage around the world when he was 11 years old; 2) when he was discovered, Captain Cook commissioned him into the Royal Navy and made him assistant to the ship's surgeon aboard the Endeavour; 3) he was the first person on Captain Cook's ship to spot New Zealand; 4) when he grew up, he explored the Antarctic. Darkness

As i wake up in the night , I wish it was really bright. Its so dark I can not see , I really want my friend Dee. When the sun comes up,I'm so happy I think i'll choke. But then i think what will i do when the dark comes back. I think i will give it a dollar bill. It will go and never come back, I'm so glad the darkness lacks.

Popper-Knocker

Popper-Knocker is my name,
And of my name I show no shame,
Because I am from Planet Bob,
And I came here to do a job.

And when I'm done, I'll go away,
To Planet Bob, my home to stay,
To Linnybinnyshoomoshog,
My little, tiny, playful dog.

To Noosle, Nary, and Nosother,
My older sisters and my brother,
To all my family and my friends,
I'll stay with them to the end.

But for now, I'm far away,
Looking for a place to stay,
Until I find my way back home,
Out here in space I'm all alone.

There once was a little blue whale,
Who had a treemendouse swift tail,
He baked a big cake,
And got a headache,
Then plopped on a boat with a sail.

fish swim while the seagulls play.
The sand is where the seashells stay,

Spring
Soon, when spring comes,
the flowers will get new buds.
The birds will begin to sing,
little girls will start to swing.
Green, green trees,
will get new leaves.
Spring is a time for things to begin anew,
I love it, don't you?

A Smart Poem 4 You
Writen in honor of all the gradutes of DARE!
Drugs are not a game, in fact they’re really lame.
They hurt your body and your mind
And get your family in a bind
So when you are asked to smoke some grass
All you have to do is pass
Or if you are asked to take a shot
Tell them that you’d rather not
And if you are asked to use some dope
Turn around and just say nope!
Stay away from drugs, "Say No’
If you do, the farther you’ll go.

In the middle of the night,
the stars will shine so bright.
They always sparkle and shine,
oh how I wish one could be mine.
Catch it with a jar,
it's light will spread far.
Then all my wishes will come true,
I wish I had a star, don't you?

Spring, Spring,
What a beautiful thing!
The Birds Sing,
The grass is green.
Spring, Spring,
what a marvelous thing,
Many joys may it bring!

Is the novel HOLES by Louis Sacher good? Many people in my class have beeen reading them and I was very curioius. Could you include a summary or review? Thanks, Booker! PS: I love this website. I like to see what others feel about books!
Note from Booker: HOLES is loved by many of our readers here at Bookworm. So much so that we decided to do a big feature on the book, along with a review of it as well. Click here to read more.

Booker, could you make a little section in your websight for girls and boys dealing with puberty? I really have nobody to talk to about it besides my friends, but they know just as much about it as I do! I think I know a lot about it all ready, but for kids who have just as much trouble finding out about it as I do, it would really be very convenient. If you have a section about it all ready that I must have passed over, please let me know.
Note from Booker: Actually we do have an area on our site for Books About Growing Up. We add more reviews as we find out about them, so keep checking back!
