A NOTE FROM BOOKER

Hello!

November is flying by and it will soon be Thanksgiving! That's always been one of my favorite holidays because I love getting together with all my nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins... The Worm family is a large one. Thanksgiving also reminds me of the Pilgrims and all the wonderful stories about the people who came to America to start a new life. The wormkids just love reading about what life was like in 1776, or 1865, or 1920.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to leave your home and sail across the ocean to a new country? Or live in a sod house on the prairie? Or a plantation in the South? This month all the wormkids at Kidsreads.com are taking a special look at some of the wonderful fictional stories that describe what life would have been like for young people in times past.  Check out the Dear America feature and the other great book reviews this week! And keep your eyes open for even more historical fiction series in the weeks to come!

Coming soon to a theater near you --- Harry Potter! Are you as excited as we are? The wormkids can hardly wait till November 16th! They've read every Harry Potter adventure and are anxious to see Harry and his friends in the movie, "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone." If you haven't read the book yet, you might want to read it first.  In fact, the wormkids are reading ALL the Harry books again!

And now for a look at all the features for this week...

--Booker T. Worm

Question of the Week

COOL NEW BOOKS!
Take a look at our round-up of the coolest new books for November. When the weather gets too cold to stay outside, why not hang out in the house and read HALF HUMAN by Bruce Coville, AFTER THE RAIN by Mary Pope Osborne or any of the other great books from our new list!

DEAR AMERICA Series
What's the most fun way to learn about American History? The DEAR AMERICA books, of course! Fact and fiction join together to give a unique perspective on the important moments in America's past in this exciting series!

BOOK REVIEWS:

THE JOURNAL OF DOUGLAS DEEDS:
Learn the fascinating story of the tragic and doomed "Donner Party" as seen through the eyes of a 15-year-old orphan boy.

JOSHUA'S SONG:
Life is very hard for Joshua, what with losing his father to the influenza epidemic and having to quit school and the choir to support his family. Will Joshua find the strength to endure this terrible crisis?

CLEM'S CHANCES:

Oh, the adventures Clem has throughout his cross-country trip to find his father, who left years earlier to seek his fortune in the California gold mines! After all that has happened, will Clem finally get the chance to see his father?
