October 2003

Which series (yes, you can include Harry Potter, but do name others as well) gets you reading the next book as SOON as it comes out?

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket

* * * * *

Harry Potter is the series that I just HAVE to read the newest book to. I really CAN'T WAIT for the next Harry Potter book!!!

* * * * *

Animal Ark, McGrowl, Amber Brown, Babysitters Little Sister, The Boxcar Children, Magic Tree House, Baily School Kids, The Amazing Days of Abby Hayes.

* * * * *

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, most definitely! I read The Slippery Slope in just a few hours!

* * * * *

Sammy Keyes by Wendelin Van Draanen

* * * * *

A few years ago, I began to read the book The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman, and was so deeply engrossed that once I finished I went right out and bought the next, The Subtle Knife. Once I was done with that, I tried to get the third book, but it hadn't come out yet. I waited, and waited, and waited, and waited for the third book, The Amber Spyglass; I even marked its publishing date on my calendar to remind myself when it came out. Finally, that date came, and after I read it I found that my patience was rewarded, for it definitely reached and surpassed my hopes for it.

A Series of Unfortunate Events

* * * * *

Tamora Pierce (any), A Series of Unfortunate Events, Harry Potter

* * * * *

The Kingdoms & the Elves of the Reaches! I started reading the first book last summer. By the time I finished the second one I had to wait to August for the next one. Then the fourth one came out the following year! Ugh!! Now the fifth one is coming out next year! Ugh!! Ugh!! Ugh!! I can't wait but I will get it as soon as it comes out.

Pure Dead Magic

* * * * *

When I was 6 or 7 I couldn't wait for another Magic Tree House Book. They were extremely exciting but short. I still remember the two main characters: Jack, 10 and Annie, 8 from Cedars Brook, Connecticut. I hope Mary Pope Osborne comes out with a series for older kids.

* * * * *

Our family is reading a series called The Keeper Martin's Tales by Robert Stanek. My daughter Marta, 11, son Chris, 15 and his twin Eric have read each of the four books published so far. They are called The Kingdoms & the Elves of the Reaches.

Marta and I read the books together. She says what gets her reading each book next is to find out what's going to happen next to her favorite characters. After we finished the first book she was so excited to get to the next to find out what has going to happen in Quashan'.

Chris says he likes the action scenes, like when Vilmos is in Vangar Forest being chased by the dark creatures, when Adrina and Emel meet the stranger, and when they try to rescue Prince Valam.

Eric is more of a thinker and says he liked all the magical elements best and kept reading to find out what fantastic thing would come next.

* * * * *

A Series of Unfortunate Events, Artemis Fowl

* * * * *

Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings

* * * * *

Left Behind

* * * * *

The book series that gets me reading as soon as the next book comes out is One Last Wish by Lurlene McDaniel. She mostly writes about diseases and people helping each other. Most children have not heard of her though, but I think that is because she writes young adult novels. Her novels are really great books and I think that some more children should start reading her books. Some of her books are sad, such as Someone Dies, Someone Lives.

* * * * *

Judy Moody. It just keeps you interested in what is happening.

* * * * *

Unicorn's Secret Series by Kathleen Duey and Emily Rodda's series books

* * * * *

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket, Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling, and The Circle of Magic by Tamora Pierce.

* * * * *

Madison Finn books! I saw it and then I read it, and it was great!

* * * * *

The Doll People, Harry Potter, Redwall, Lord of the Rings, Junie B. Jones, Judy Bloom, Roald Dahl books, Judy Moody, Beverly Cleary books, Amelia Bedelia, Curious George, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Anne of Green Gables, Holes, The Babysitters Club, Nate the Great, Flat Stanley, and the Guinness Book of World Records!!!

* * * * *

Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, The Amazing Days of Abby Hayes

* * * * *

Harry Potter, The Spiderwick Chronicles, and American Girl books.

* * * * *

A Series of Unfortunate Events AND Artemis Fowl!! No questions asked!!

* * * * *

I love Puppy Patrol by Jenny Dale, Magic Tree House by Mary Pope Osborne, and Pony Pals by Jeanne Betancourt. I love all three. I wish I had them all. I also love Animal Ark books by Ben M. Baglio. They are all mysteries and all scary from time to time.

* * * * *

Harry Potter, The Chronicles of Narnia

* * * * *

Junie B. Jones

* * * * *

Lizzie McGuire

* * * * *

Everest series

* * * * *

The Eddie Dickens Trilogy

* * * * *

A Series of Unfortunate Events. I love those books. I've read them all, from The Bad Beginning to The Slippery Slope. I love them!

* * * * *

The Kingdoms & the Elves of the Reaches books! They are the best!!!

* * * * *

I don't read lots of book series, but I do like the Phyllis Reynolds Naylor Boy/Girl Feud series and the Harry Potter books.

* * * * *

Harry Potter, Sammy Keyes, and A Series of Unfortunate Events

* * * * *

Harry Potter, Molly Moon

* * * * *

I read Harry Potter, A Series of Unfortunate Events, The Spiderwick Chronicles, and American Girl History Mysteries as soon as I can get my hands on them.

* * * * *

Redwall series

* * * * *

A series I would buy right when it comes out would be Junie B. Jones. But now I don't really read any of her books anymore. I'm starting to read the Amber Brown series. I love books!

* * * * *

Harry Potter, The Magic Tree House

* * * * *

A Series of Unfortunate Events, Captain Underpants, Harry Potter

* * * * *

The Mitford series by Jan Karon

* * * * *

Children of the Promise

* * * * *

Harry Potter, definitely A Series of Unfortunate Events, and probably the Artemis Fowl books.

* * * * *

The Harry Potter series really gets me reading and I end up finishing one HP book in just about a couple of days. I also can hardly wait until the next book comes out! Right now, I am re-reading the 5th book. I also like the Moffats books by Eleanor Estes, but no more will come out since they were written in the 1950s or so.

* * * * *

I will read the next A Series of Unfortunate Events book.

* * * * *

A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket. They're really good books, try them at least. I did once and I didn't even get through the first chapter. Now I'm reading them like crazy. They're about three kids who lose their parents in a fire. In every book there is this evil guy called Count Olaf and the kids try to figure out what he is trying to do to steal their fortune, because their parents were rich. I'm going to let you read them for yourself.

* * * * *

The Amazing Days of Abby Hayes

* * * * *

The Royal Diaries, Girls of Many Lands, Harry Potter (of course!!!), Nancy Drew, and Hardy Boys

* * * * *

Protector of the Small series by Tamora Pierce

* * * * *

The Royal Diaries, Harry Potter, Girls of Many Lands, The Secrets of Droon, The Magic Tree House, Heartland, The Princess Diaries, A to Z Mysteries

* * * * *

The Spiderwick Chronicles are amazing --- we can't wait for the 4th edition.

Back to top.
