What authors have you met either at school, your local library or your local bookstore?
Johnathan Rand, the author of the Michigan Chillers series, came to my younger sister's elementary school and signed books for the kids.

I have met David Pelzer. He is the author of A Child Called "It". I think that he has lived an amazing life and I greatly admire him and his stories. He is a strong and brave man and I hope that I can meet him again.

Candace Fleming, Phyllis Root, Nancy Carlson, Peter Roop, Debbie Dadey, Gary Paulsen, Sharon Creech, Douglas Wood, Lisa Westberg Peters, Jacqueline Woodson, Lois Lowry.

I have met Terry Denton. He is great and very funny.

I met the author of Twinkle Dust, Alice Bowman. I also met Karen Magnuson Beil, author of A Cake All For Me. They were very kind to the students.

Tres Seymour came to our school in Perryville, KY in the spring of 2002. Our librarian has also met George Ella Lyon, Terry Brooks, Mary Pope Osborne, Alexandra Day and Paul Brett Johnson! Many of them are Kentucky authors.

I met Gail Carson Levine. She came to our school and was wonderful. She even read Betsy Who Cried Wolf before it was released to the bookstores. Now her book Ella Enchanted is coming out as a movie.

We've had Anna Grossnickle Hines, Audrey Couloumbis, and Susan Beth Pfeffer come to our public library to speak or give a program --- all were excellent! I've also met Paul Zindel at the library. He wasn't giving a program but came in as a patron. He was very interesting to talk to. (I work at the library.)

I met Garth Nix at the Petaluma Copperfield's books. It was a great experience and very inspiring to listen to a very successful writer talk about his inspirations as well as a few funny moments of his life that had a big impact on his writing.

Last year, the author Tolya Thompson came to our school. She answered one of my questions, which was really exciting. I think that when an author visits your school, it's a great oppurtunity for the kids.

Nancy Rue, the author of the Christian Heritage Series. She writes about Salem times, Williamsburg times, Charleston times, etc.

I like Lemony Snicket's books because the bad guy always gets away and I'm really looking forward to the movie ... except I'm afraid Jim Carrey will overdo the part of Count Olaf.
