Eleven-year-old Simon is less than thrilled when he finds out who the new substitute teacher for his fifith grade class is: it's his wacky Aunt Mattie who wears a huge flowered hatand mismatched shoes and has a parrot that says "Shut up, please!" At first, Mattie turns the school upside down --- but soon Simon and his class find her a source of inspiration and encouragement.
