Life for 12-year-old Kara has just become more of a challenge than ever. Her father has taken a job that requires him to move a few hours away from their home while Kara lives at home with her mother, who is suffering from a mental illness. But no one knows how serious her mother's illness has become, and Kara doesn't want anyone --- not her dad or even her best friend --- to find out. Can Kara take care of her mother and be a "real" person, too?
