Sunita loves cats. The neat thing is, the cats know it and love her back. As one of the young volunteers at Dr. Mac's veterinary clinic, WILD AT HEART, Sunita helps take care of all the cats, and being around them  makes her want one of her own. Unfortunately, Sunita's mother is firmly against it. She says cats shed and scratch the furniture. But Sunita is determined and tries hard to change her mother's mind by proving she can be responsible and take care of a pet.

However, things don't go too well at first. When Sunita pets a cat that Dr. Mac specifically told her to leave alone, she meets with disastrous consequences, and now she may not get an animal of her own --- for the next three light years!
