David has loved horses for as long as he can remember. David's father was a member of an Olympic equestrian team, so David grew up around horses and he wants to become as good a rider as his dad. He's learning to jump hurdles on a horse named Comet, but he soon finds out it will take a lot of hard work before he'll become really skilled at riding and jumping.
Reaching his goal seems to get even harder when David's father comes back to town for Thanksgiving. David watches his dad jump the hurdles on a magnificent horse, but something is wrong. David tries hard to make his father proud of him, but his father doesn't seem to support his dream anymore.
What has happened to David's father that is making him act this way? What does David learn about growing up, and making people proud? You'll have to read for yourself to find out why David's father has had a change of heart, and whether David can overcome this latest obstacle.
