Molly Moon & the Morphing Mystery
Hypnotist extraordinaire Molly Moon returns --- to the intense pleasure and gratitude of her many fans. In her latest adventure, Molly and her twin brother, Micky, are riding toward London with Miss Hunroe, their new tutor. Trailing them is the ominous AH2, who had secretly shot a dart at Molly and her friends, striking Molly in the neck, the day before as they frolicked in the swimming pool. AH2 is an alien hunter who uses his locator box to follow Molly since he’s convinced she’s an alien.
Miss Hunroe arrives at a natural history museum in the city. She parks in the Diplomats Only parking space, while admitting she is not a diplomat, and announces that their lessons will begin here.
Molly remembers the previous day. While she has mad skills as a time traveler, time stopper and hypnotist, she's never been a terrific student. On that day, she had been dreading meeting their new tutor. In fact, she had been pretty bored in general since her mother had hidden her time-travel crystals and asked her to remain in the present day and refrain from hypnotizing anyone. But Molly has a secret that no one knows about: during her last trip to the future, she discovered that she can read minds. So at least she can dabble around peeking into other people's brains.
As she turns her own mind back to the present inside the London museum, Molly hears Miss Hunroe announce that she has many surprises planned for Molly and Micky. She leads the children through a secret passageway into a tower room where they meet her friends --- several rather unusual women.
Molly and Micky discover that Miss Hunroe deceived them. She is not a tutor, but rather a hypnotist, as are her peculiar cronies. The women inform them that their great-great-grandfather wrote a second book. While Molly had learned to hypnotize from Dr. Logan's first book, the follow-up, Hypnotism, Volume Two: The Advanced Arts, explains how to time stop, time travel, and mind read --- skills Molly has instinctively picked up. But Miss Hunroe tells her that there's another skill taught in the book --- that of morphing. A morpher, Molly learns, can borrow the body of another creature or human.
Unfortunately, however, that book was stolen long ago, the women tell the children. The thief is another hypnotist who is also an embezzler. Realizing the havoc a villain could wreak if he is able to morph into people of power, such as the President of the United States, Molly and Micky agree to help Miss Hunroe and her friends retrieve the book. The twins are Miss Hunroe and company's secret two-part weapon --- but can they get the book back before the thieving scoundrel learns how to morph? Little do they know that an unexpected rescuer is on the way to help them...and that their situation is not quite what it appears to be.
The delightful Molly Moon leads an intriguing cast of characters in this thoroughly gripping fantasy adventure, chock full of skullduggery and derring-do. Readers are bound to be enthralled by a rapid-paced, twisty plot and imaginative descriptions of what it's like to morph. In addition, we can enjoy hilarious situations and asides, more than a few nuggets of knowledge, and tons of quirkiness.
