About the Book

The Christmas Toy Factory, Book 27

Geronimo has trudged through a freezing December morning in order to get to his office and get some work done. But before Geronimo can even begin, his grandfather, William Shortpaws, arrives. William Shortpaws orders him to get the business in order or (gasp!) he will once again take over --- and Geronimo will be out of a job. Geronimo cannot have that, so he is inspired to work, work, work.

For the next week, Geronimo works so hard he doesn't even take a break for lunch. On Christmas Eve morning, Geronimo realizes he needs to be at his nephew Benjamin's Christmas play. But when he arrives, he is too late. The play is over and Benjamin's feelings are hurt. Geronimo tries to cheer his nephew up by buying him a toy, but Benjamin just wants to go home and Geronimo heads back to his office.

Imagine Geronimo's amazement when his detective friend Hercule Poirat jumps out of a delivered present just to wish him happy holidays. Next, Geronimo's buddy Burl Burlyrat shows up to give Geronimo a present, followed by the arrival of Squeaky Star, a famous(e) singer. Geronimo's friends want to go out for lunch and open gifts, but Geronimo just doesn't have time because he must work. He even turns down his crush, Petunia Pretty Paws, when she invites him to go to Australia with her. And when his co-workers try to throw a party, he yells at them.

Geronimo feels terrible about being such a Scrooge. The situation doesn't improve when his family members can't believe he isn't at the family holiday gathering. But no matter what, Geronimo continues to work. However, his life takes a turn when he falls asleep while researching a story on the spirit of Christmas. When he wakes up, he finds a little elf at the window with an invitation to visit Santa Claus. No matter how much work Geronimo plans to do, he cannot turn down this invitation (who could?). The next thing he knows, he's shivering in his boots, terrified at Ding-Dong's flying tricks in a sleigh pulled by reindeer.

Having survived the trip, Geronimo is stunned by the experience of actually meeting Santa and Mrs. Claus. He is even more shocked when he discovers that Santa can't deliver toys because he has the measles. It turns out that Santa is a big fan of Geronimo's books and he asks Geronimo to deliver toys. But Geronimo is overwhelmed by the idea. Can he save Christmas for children everywhere --- and for himself?

THE CHRISTMAS TOY FACTORY is packed full of fun extras, including Christmas ideas, decorations and recipes.
