Riley's companionship helps William deal with the difficulties in his life, including his grandfather's death and his parents' split. But when Riley breaks a local ordinance by chasing a horse, he's taken into custody and is scheduled to be put to sleep. Now William must reach deep within and find a way to save Riley before the dog's time is up.
