JOSEFINA, 1824
Josefina Montoya is a nine-year-old growing up on a rancho in Santa
Fe, New Mexico, which wasn't yet a state in 1824 --- it was still
a part of Mexico. It's been a year since her mother died, but Josefina,
her Papa and her three older sisters --- Ana, Francisca and Clara
--- are all carrying on, coping with their sadness and loss. But things
begin to look brighter when Abuelito, Josefina's grandfather, returns
to the Montoya rancho with a surprise: Tia Dolores, Josefina's aunt.
