THE AMERICAN GIRLS Collections

FELICITY, 1774

Nine-year-old Felicity Merriman lives in Williamsburg, Virginia with her parents, her younger brother William, younger sister Nan and her father's apprentice, Ben. Her father owns one of the largest stores in the city, and people shop there for all kinds of wonderful things from exotic places.

The year 1774, just before the American Revolution, is an exciting and confusing time for Felicity and her family. Her father is a patriot --- someone who wants the colonies to be independent from England, and her grandfather is a loyalist, someone who is still loyal to England's king. This often causes tension in the family.

Felicity also has her own responsibilities. She tries hard to concentrate on all the things she must learn to be a proper lady, but she also loves to be outdoors and working with Penny, her adopted horse. Sharing her "ladylike" lessons with her good friend, Elizabeth makes the time fly, and Felicity still finds plenty of time to go exploring.
