- Author Katharine Holabird and illustrator Helen Craig published their first Angelina book in 1983.
- Ms. Holabird and her 3 sisters used to dress up and dance around the house pretending to be ballerinas, just like Angelina.
- As a young girl, Ms. Holabird remembers enjoying two of the greatest ballets with her grandmother, "Swan Lake" and "The Nutcracker Suite."
- Before becoming a children's author, Ms. Holabird worked as a journalist in Italy, a nursery school teacher in London, and a freelance writer.
- Ms. Craig became an apprentice to a commercial photographer in London when she was only 16 years old. She went on to set up her own photographic studio, and worked as a freelance potter and sculptor before becoming an illustrator of children's books.
- The Angelina Series inspired a new animated TV series that first aired on PBS in May, 2002. There is also a second series of storybooks that were a spin-off of the TV series, as well as board books for the youngest fans.
