George Beard and Harold Hutchins are up to their old tricks again. Their latest adventure starts on Demonstration Speech Day. Each student in Ms. Ribble's fourth-grade English class is required to give an oral report demonstrating how to do something. George and Harold show their classmates and teacher how to do a 'Squishy.' Their presentation is quite messy but the entire class, including Ms. Ribble, enjoys every sticky, gooey moment.

Well, maybe not the entire class. The one exception is Melvin Sneedly, the school brainiac who likes to snitch and make life miserable for his fellow classmates. After George and Harold are sent to the detention room thanks to Melvin's big mouth, the duo decides to get some instant revenge on Melvin. Needless to say, Melvin is not amused by what they do and he's determined to teach them both a lesson they will never forget.

Melvin attempts to turn himself into a bionic-powered superboy, but a huge sneeze from Melvin transforms him into the Bionic Booger Boy! Dav Pilkey's descriptions of this terrifying creature are priceless, but just make sure you don't have any food in your mouth while you're reading --- his descriptions contain lots of details!

Eventually, the Bionic Booger Boy triples in size and appears to be on a mission to destroy everything, and everybody, in his path. Only one person can save the day --- Captain Underpants, of course! But will he be able to defeat this gigantic, disgusting and snotty beast? Well, you'll have to read the book to find out what happens. In the meantime, does anyone have 500 boxes of tissues handy?

Book 7, CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS AND THE BIG, BAD BATTLE OF THE BIONIC BOOGER BOY, PART 2: The Revenge of the Ridiculous Robo-Boogers
by Dav Pilkey
Scholastic
ISBN: 0439376122
Ages 7-10
176 pages

Part 2 of CAPTAIN UNDERPANTS AND THE BIG, BAD BATTLE OF THE BIONIC BOOGER BOY opens with the vilest, most disgusting and most terrifying creatures on the face of the earth --- the Ridiculous Robo-Boogers. They're chasing George, Harold, Melvin and Mr. Krupp down the city streets and have them cornered. But at the very last second, Sulu the Bionic Hamster saves the day. He stuffs the three snotty fiends into his mouth and shoots the slimy villains into space, never to be seen again. This sequence lasts only 10 pages, making it the shortest Captain Underpants adventure ever. Well ... not exactly. Unfortunately for George and Harold, their incredible adventure has only just begun.

THE REVENGE OF THE RIDICULOUS ROBO-BOOGERS centers on Melvin Sneedly and Mr. Krupp, who aren't quite themselves. Somehow their brains were switched around, so Mr. Krupp's brain is now in Melvin's body and Melvin's brain is in Mr. Krupp's body. Needless to say, the situation is quite confusing. The Combine-O-Tron 2000 would help solve the problem, but it was smashed in the last book. All hope seems to be lost, until George comes up with the brilliant suggestion that Mr. Melvin (the guy who looks like Mr. Krupp but has Melvin's brain) build a time machine that would allow him to go back in time to before the Combine-O-Tron 2000 was smashed, grab it, and bring it back to the present time.

This is exactly what Mr. Melvin decides to do, and his determination to succeed is heightened when he finds out that Mr. Krupp is actually Captain Underpants. When he gets his younger body back, Melvin is confident that he will become the world's first super-powered kid. When the time machine (a portable purple potty) is ready, Mr. Melvin sends George and Harold away to test it. After a series of wacky events, they finally recover the Combine-O-Tron 2000 and the brains of Melvin and Mr. Krupp are back where they belong.

So the story is over and everyone lives happily ever after, right? Wrong! After all, this IS a Captain Underpants adventure, where nothing remains normal or peaceful for too long. Will Melvin succeed in becoming the world's greatest superhero? Maybe. Have we really seen the last of the Robo-Boogers? Not a chance! Is THE REVENGE OF THE RIDICULOUS ROBO-BOOGERS just as fun to read as previous Captain Underpants books? You bet!

When we last saw George Beard and Harold Hutchins, they were able to take their pet pterodactyl, Crackers, back to the Cretaceous period in the Purple Potty time machine. But things don’t work out quite as they had hoped (a common occurrence in every Captain Underpants adventure). They’ve entered a bizarre alternate reality where the teachers are always nice; children are allowed to read banned books; the cafeteria serves delicious food (instead of smelling like dirty diapers, greasy dishwater and moldy tennis shoes); all of the enemies from George and Harold’s past have been miraculously transformed into good guys; and, most shockingly of all, Mr. Krupp --- a curmudgeon who takes immense pleasure in seeing kids get into trouble --- suddenly has acquired a sense of humor and actually finds the boys funny.

George and Harold are freaked out by what they’re witnessing. It just isn’t the same without their gym teacher being incredibly cruel to the non-athletic kids or Mr. Krupp gleefully handing out detention slips to students who dare to smile or breathe without permission. But the situation takes a turn for the worse when Crackers and Sulu the Bionic Hamster are kidnapped by George and Harold’s evil-twin look-alikes.

This Eighth Epic Novel by Dav Pilkey introduces readers to Captain Blunderpants, an evil villain whom Evil George and Evil Harold created to do all sorts of…well, evil things, like steal big-screen televisions and video game systems, and then run away from the police. This evil super-powered slave engages (almost) in a historic battle with our brave hero, the one and only Captain Underpants. Who knew that George and Harold’s grandparents, aka Boxer Boy and Great-Granny Girdle, would play such an important role in this story? It wouldn’t be fair to reveal all, but let’s just say that the illustrations of these two feisty octogenarians (and the way they defend themselves against undesirable individuals) will have you smiling from ear to ear.

A familiar character who now goes by a different name makes an appearance at the very end of the book, which will set the stage for the next Captain Underpants adventure, coming soon-ish to a bookstore near you. In the meantime, readers will have their eyes glued (well, not really glued) to the pages of this one, as George and Harold try to save the world from the evil intentions of the Purple Potty People.
