Ms. Bean --- a friendly and kindhearted social worker who transports Dakota to her next home.
Neil Ramsey --- a former foster kid who promises to help Dakota run from her newest foster home.
Dr. Annie Coolidge --- an oncologist surgeon who also runs the Starlight Animal Rescue where Dakota will be living.
Chester Coolidge --- a stay-at-home husband to Annie, dubbed “Popeye” by the family.
Hank Coolidge --- Annie and Chester’s likable teen son.
Katharine (Kat) --- Annie and Chester’s foster daughter who is suffering from cancer.
Wes Williams (Mad Dog) --- a 14-year-old girl whose mom is a drug addict.
Guinevere La Roche --- a spoiled daughter who owns a horse named Lancelot.
Winnie the Horse Gentler --- runs the Pet Helpline and emails the teens with horse advice.
Catman --- a friend of Winnie’s who is a whiz with cats and emails the teens with cat advice.
Wanda --- runs the Nice Animal Shelter.
Doc Jim --- runs the Tri-County Animal Clinic.
George (Georgette) Coolidge --- Popeye Coolidge’s feisty mom.
Eddy Barker --- a dog whisperer who gives the kids dog training advice.
Miss Golf --- the activity director at the Nice Manor.
Buddy --- a wheelchair-bound friend of Georgette Coolidge.
Wes’s mom --- soon to be released from rehab for a drug problem.
