Kate Garchinsky

Kate Garchinsky is an illustrator, writer, and fine artist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Her first word was “bird”. Her first drawing was a pumpkin. And her first book, THE SECRET LIFE OF THE RED FOX, was named a 2018 Outstanding Science Trade Book by the National Science Teacher’s Association. In 2015 Kate Garchinsky was named an Eckelberry Fellow at the Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University, where she has studied passenger pigeons, Carolina parakeets, and skunks. Before illustrating books, Garchinsky created educational toys, trail maps, and perfect milkshakes. She lives in the woodlands with her husband, Brian, two kitties, Julia and Spenser, and her one-eyed beagle, Maggie May.
