Day of Doom: The 39 Clues: Cahills vs. Vespers Book 6

Dan sees no other choice. The Vespers have broken their promise to release the hostages, so it must be done. He’s worked long and hard to gather the rare ingredients and concoct the super serum, all done in secret without Amy’s knowledge. He doesn’t know exactly how the serum will affect him; he may even die. He just knows he has to take it in order to save the hostages and the rest of the world. So in the seclusion of the hotel bathroom, he downs the magical concoction.

"David Baldacci pens the sixth book with a courageous hand, both tying off loose ends and answering probing questions, yet also taking fans on another wild and unpredictable ride"

Then Amy walks in to apologize for her recent retreat into depression…and confesses to Dan that she had figured out what he was doing and switched the serum, dumping the real stuff down the drain. She just couldn’t let her brother attempt something so very dangerous. At first Dan is furious, but then he listens to Amy’s plan of attack and new hope emerges. That and the fact that he has a second dose of the powerful serum hidden in his backpack. He may still need it, because the Vespers have activated their Doomsday Devise, causing very strange weather changes and disruptions of the Earth’s magnetic fields. Our heroes don’t have much time until Vesper One adds the final piece to the device, promising devastation to the world. Thankfully Atticus recalls something his mother whispered just before she died, offering another clue. The gang heads straight for the National Museum of Natural History in Washington D.C.

Unfortunately, their path crosses with that of the evil Isabel Kabra yet again. She’s determined to oust Vesper One and take over the top bad guy post for herself. Along the way, she manages to kidnap Atticus and steal Dan’s backpack…which just happens to contain the super serum. And someone does dare to down the dangerous weapon, but just through whose lips does the serum pass and to what consequences? The only bright spot in all of this is that the hostages finally grab a glimpse of freedom, just in time to join Dan and Amy in a huge battle of good versus evil where not everyone will emerge alive!

This is it, the final book in the Cahills vs. Vespers series, and it’s quaking with excitement, adventure and danger! David Baldacci pens the sixth book with a courageous hand, both tying off loose ends and answering probing questions, yet also taking fans on another wild and unpredictable ride; no character is safe and more than one will not live to see the last page. This may be one series coming to an end, but a new beginning is in the works: The 39 Clues diehard fans will be thrilled to know that another spin-off series is planned. It’s titled UNSTOPPABLE and is due out in the fall of 2013.
