The A-Z of Wonder Women

Review

The A-Z of Wonder Women

In THE A-Z OF WONDER WOMEN, author Yvonne Lin shares a brief bio of each of 26 women who she considers have done something amazing and wonderful, earning them the title of “Wonder Women.” Her list goes from A to Z, starting with Ada Lovelace and ending with Zaha Hadid. Each bio includes the person’s year of birth and death (if applicable), a notable tidbit from their life, a quote from them and a full-color illustration. Each illustration is as individual as the woman being highlighted.

"This is a great little book highlighting 26 'wonder'-ful women. It’s also a handy reference for anyone looking for inspiring women."

At the back of the book, the author includes a list of “22 More Wonder Women.” The information for these women is similar to that of the other 26, but without any illustrations.

In her Introduction, the author expresses the importance of having role models for both boys and girls. Boys have lots of super heroes to live up. Shouldn’t girls have the same? This is a great little book highlighting 26 “wonder”-ful women. It’s also a handy reference for anyone looking for inspiring women.

The only thing I would have liked to see added to the book would have been a list of resources the author used, as well as a list of resources where interested readers could go to get more information about these women since each bio is very short.
